The World Touring Car Championship held a number of events today, to support the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety, prior to the start of the Marrakesh round of the championship.

The Citroën Total World Rally Team crew of Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena claimed victory in the Rally of Turkey today. Petter Solberg and Phil Mills finished second with Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen third.
In the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers, Loeb has extended his advantage and the Frenchman tops the leaderboard 40 points ahead of Petter Solberg. Hirvonen is third, just one point adrift. In the Manufacturers’ Championship, Citroën Total and BP Ford remain in close competition, the French make ahead by 15 points.

After one of the most competitive days of action this season, Sébastien Loeb heads the leaderboard in the Rally of Turkey. Petter Solberg has also moved up the order into second with Mikko Hirvonen in a close third overall.

The second day of the Rally of Turkey was the longest and most demanding of the event with two identical loops of four stages, three of which were a mix of gravel and asphalt. The route also included two runs through the longest stage of the rally - Riva at 27.17 kilometres.
